If you use Safari or Chrome browser with a Mac computer and the Moodle course you are in includes videos embedded from Panopto, our lecture capture platform, you may have trouble accessing the videos (see screenshot) until you make a change to the preferences in Safari.

Erroneous Panopto video embedded in Moodle using Safari browser

To change this:

Open Safari and go to the right-hand corner and click on Safari -> Preferences from the drop down menu

Navigate to the Privacy Tab and make sure “Prevent cross-site tracking” is unchecked.

Close the Preferences window and Reload the Moodle page

Now when you go to the place where the video is embedded, you should be able to see it.
